feelings of terror with seizures

Thu, 04/20/2006 - 08:32
The main symptoms of my seizures were awful feelings of terror. Along with that, I had some memory loss. My seizures would last about 1 minute and I would get about 20 a day. They would last 2 to 3 days and not come back for a few months. I was extremely tired on days with awful headaches. Clonazepam has helped a lot. I just want to know if anyone out there has seizures like I experienced especially the terror feelings. First I was told it was panic attacks, but they are seizures. I do not lose consciousness.

I am recently on Klonopin. I have only had initial side effects of sleepiness but after all it is a sedative. I have Myoclonus and a lot of people take it for the jerking that comes with Myoclonus. It was increased very very slowly and I take very little along with Keppra. I take it at night and I am also getting less jerking at night and more sleep. Hugs Joan

I am taking 2 MG a day. It has helped me alot. My main side effect is drowsiness, but I am quite used to the medicine. I would recommend it to anyone. I was on Depakote and it was not working and had worse side effects. I have been seizure free with Clonazepam. It took months to kick in but I gave it time. I just never heard of symptoms like mine and was curious if anyone out there has my symptoms. Oh, one more side effect may be bleeding gums. I need to take extra good care of my teeth. Onlu once did I increase my intake. I have been on a steady dose for a long time. Good luck, hang in there.

Hi Ambhealthy. I was recently diagnosed with TLE. I also had those feelings of terror that you experienced. I used to have those feelings a day or two before my period for as many years as I can remember but I never knew what they were. They only lasted a minute or so but they were really frightening. A while back when I began my menopause I got worse and I began to have complex-partial seizures. I had two while I was driving and had two car accidents. After testing and seeing four different neurologists I was finally diagnosed this past July with TLE. My neurologist told me that those scary "deja vu" feelings I used to get before my period were all seizures! But at least I have an explanation for all those strange feelings that have plagued me for the last few decades. It's good to know that we are not alone in our struggle. Take care and God Bless.
