Does anyone else have throat pain?

Sun, 09/10/2006 - 16:13
HI, My 8 y.o. daughter had an episode today. She rates her symptoms for us, so we know how she is doing. Here is a typical episode for her: sudden dizzines (level 10), headache (level 8), throat pain (level 8). This may last anywhere from a few minutes to 1/2 hour. It is difficult to tell sometimes what is seizure, and what is postictal symptoms. She is very lethargic, flat affect, and pale following these episodes. Does anyone else experience this? Thanks, Lori

I had a first seizure last

I had a first seizure last week and immediately afterwards had a moderate to severe throat pain (maybe a 7/10) whenever I swallowed. It felt like a painful lump in my throat, and was more of a 'physical' pain (like i'd been punched in the throat), rather than a scratchy sore throat feeling.I originally thought I may have fainted and landed on my throat, and that might have brought on the seizure somehow; but looking at the other comments it seems this is a reasonably common after-effect of having a seizure.

Hi Lori! I'm can be lethargic after some seizures and have also often wondered if there is such a thing as a 'sleep seizure' because when that hits, I'm out like a light. There is no fighting it. I've also had throat pain before but am not totally sure if it is related to seizures. As many that have come on here asking or posting about it, I'm inclined to believe it is. When I have my throat pain, I find it next to impossible to swallow. I feel like I am choking and can't seem to stop the process of swallowing until the feeling passes either. It's terrible. -Spiz
