What to do?

Ok so I seem to be having a harder time concentrating on everything and all my words and ideas just seem to slip out of my head as I talk. I take topamax and I'm 14 is this normal. I'm having some break though seizures but no one knows except my sister because they make me feel like it was my fault. Is this really wrong what should I do?

I was reading your posting and the concern I have as a mother is that you won't tell your parents about how you feel? I don't understand this as I am a mother of a 17 year old and we have to work together as I can't help her if she doesn't tell me. Please tell your mother or father as you may need to decrease as you could be toxic and this is why you feel so confused.

Hi there,

My daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy about 6 months ago.  She is 15 now, she had a brain tumor removed when she was 9 (non-cancerous) and did great for about 4 years after that. Then about a year and a half ago she started having grand mal seizures.  It has been really scary for me.  The neurologist we saw six months ago was very clinical and didn't really give me any idea of what to expect.  My daughter, Lynne, was taking tegratol but was having break-throughs because of lack of sleep, or not eating.  She has been switched to carbatrol, which was working pretty good, but now it is on back-order from the mfg. and my pharmacy can't get any.  So she is taking the tegratol again.  I think she has adjusted to this whole thing pretty well, considering she has had to learn new habits as a teenager.  She is having problems though with nausea, hot flashes, and feeling dizzy any time she has a semi-busy week-end.  The other night she was on the floor of her bathroom, white as a sheet, nauseous and generally feeling awful. She had played in a tough soccer game that day and had spent the night with a girl-friend the night before.  I don't know if I am letting her do too much?  I am trying to keep her life as normal as possible, but should I be restricting her activities more?  We are going to see her family doctor tomorrow.  Do you have any advice for me?  I have soo many questions, I would really appreciate any help you could give me.

Thank you!
