What to do?

Wed, 01/12/2005 - 18:58

Ok so I seem to be having a harder time concentrating on everything and all my words and ideas just seem to slip out of my head as I talk. I take topamax and I'm 14 is this normal. I'm having some break though seizures but no one knows except my sister because they make me feel like it was my fault. Is this really wrong what should I do?

I recently switched from Depakote to Topomax because of the weight gain that I experienced over the past ten years. I have only been taking the Topomax for about three weeks now, and I also feel as if I am having a harder time finding the right words at times. I thought that it was because of the switch, but after seeing your note, I am not so sure now. I will be sure to ask my doc on my next visit. Good luck, and keep us posted.

Hi,

Admittedly I don't have epilepsy, I joined this forum because of a tetanus article on this site, that I found on the web.

But, I do have a lot of experience with some cognitive dysfunction: not being able to find my thoughts quickly, or having my thoughts all pour out rather than me being able to organize them. (I'm sorry, I should have copied your message, because I can't remember the words you used exactly.)

My problem is helped by vitamin B12. I have shots for it because I have pretty serious B12 malabsorption illness. Actually, B12 malabsorption illness is fairly common.

There are several symptoms of low B12, and one of the things that can cause it is drugs, medical drugs. So it might be something to think about and ask your doctor about. If you think about it, think methylcobalamin lozenges, which you put under your tongue. They are super easy and not off-putting like shots.
