AmberH,
Just so you know, I am not an experienced technician, I'm an experienced person WITH epilepsy. You must be a new person to the group because with the search results I performed at the time of typing this reply, you have posted three replies overall, all of which were just today. Welcome to the group.
There is a huge amount of up-to-date, detailed and easy to understand information with the epilepsy.com website, but I just wanted to bring something to your attention. Whenever you make a run through all of the posted subject threads, just like this very one right here, make sure that you look at the dates. The ones for when it was first posted and also the one for the last person who has replied. The last person who posted on this thread was last year in November. That's over 7 months ago. I've only been with this community forum since January this year and have never once seen any of those other user names. So those people may no longer be with the forum. Just a hint and tip about this community forum. Don't read just the lines, read what's between the lines too.
Please tell us more about your studying of trying to become a EEG technician.
Bruce J

I'm a student right now studying to be an EEG technician, and I've been doing my bulk of clinicals at The Children's Hospital in Philadelphia and your best bet is to see a neurologist to get an EEG done, that way hopefully they can diagnose what type of seizure disorder you have. I read that you mentioned they started when you were 8 and also usually occur when you are getting ready to go to sleep or when you are deprived of sleep. I've learned about this type that is called Benign Rolandic Epilepsy and it occurs in children and they say it is the best to have because you usually grow out of it but they are nocturnal seizures occuring a person is sleeping or upon awakening. But definetly try to see a doctor...and i wish you the best of luck.
