trileptal and lamictal

My daughter Ariana had her appt. with neuro today and after discussing her behavioral problems at home and in school, he has decided that he is going start her on lamictal while weaning her off of the trileptal. He feels the trileptal can be causing her aggressive and nasty behavior. Hope the lamictal works!! I dont know how many more phone calls I can take from school that they had to remove her from the class or that she flipped her desk over.. :(
Has anyone had their child on both or can anyone tell me anything about lamictal. I do know about the rash issue and of course nervous about that. Thanks

I am currently in yhe process of switching my daughter from the trileptal to lamictal.The first week she seemed to be more hyper.then she seemed to be back to her self.no more seizures but sleeping less at night.a week ago we added the second dose of lamictal,3 days in to yhe new dose she would come home from school and take a 3 1/2 hr nap and then 3hrs later go to bed.the last two days she is back to a normal sleeping pattern.her attitude has inproved as well.its along process.we are almost a month into it.when did you start changing meds?hang in there.

Ariana just started to add the lamictal this past Saturday morning. She takes two pills in the morning and still the trileptal twice a day. She was with her father the weekend(divorced) so I haven't gotten to see how she is reacting. I am just worried about the rash. She comes with me tonight so I will see if she is either sleepy or more hyper. Was your daughter having behavior issues? Hopefully the lamictal will help Ariana with that because she has been having a really rough time. Very aggressive and nasty which is not like her. Thanks and good luck to you too.

I guess its just trial and error to see what works. I'm just hoping she can get back to being as normal as possible so she can start learning again and staying in the classroom rather than spending most of it going for walks or sitting in the library, office, etc. with an aid. She has really fallen behind because of it. Thanks for your comments and good luck to you all also.
