New here (absence seizures, adhd and autism ?'s)

Mon, 07/16/2007 - 12:19
My 9 ID twin boys were diagnosed with absence seizures less than a year ago but have had them as early as 5-6. At first I just thought they were day dreaming/ spacing out. As they started adhd meds at 7 they got worse as their adhd meds were upped I noticed more things like eye rolling and head tilting so a little after they turned 8 I told their ped and she ignored me for a month then sent them for eeg's. In may we went to a specialist a ucla doc what a joke anyhow he says adhd meds have no effect on seizures (BS) every time the meds(stimulants) go up the seizure activity goes up. Has anyone else had this problem with their kids? We also believe the boys are on the autism spectrum anyone else have issues with all 3? I just need to know I am not alone with this. Jessica

Unfortunately the boys go from 10-15 off of adhd meds to 20-30 on the meds. I am homeschooling them this year or until a doctor can get their meds worked out so they can be on both. Jessica

My wife had multiple absence seizures every day as an adult. She hasn't had any in over a decade now though since she finished 5-6 months of EEG neurofeedback sessions. Many insurance companies will cover EEG neurofeedback as a treatment for ADD/ADHD now. I recommend looking into it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Check out my chart of alternative epilepsy treatments.
