low white blood count?

Sat, 08/04/2007 - 17:08
Does anyone have any information on Trileptal causing a drop in white blood cells? My son, Brady who is 2, had blood work which showed a drop in his white blood cell count. He has been on Trileptal for a year with no problems. His neuro didn't give much info, am waiting on a call from the pediatrician. Has anyone had this happen? Should I be concerned? Rachael

I just remembered that a few days ago you asked what amount Kaitlyn was on. She is taking .5 cc right now... but will eventually be taking .5 in the am, .5 in the mid day and 1 in the evening which will come out to 600 mg a day as well. So I don't know if that is too much for a 2 year old. I think you asked if the 3 times a day was supposed to help with the side effects, well the doctor said it is so I am hoping thats the case. Let me know about what you find out about the low counts. My mother in law got that from one of her meds and developed ITP (maybe look into that too) and had to be put on prednizone. Take care!

Iam sorry I hope you didnt take it wrong.Im sure you know when your child is sick. What I was trying to say was that an infection will so up in the blood work before any symptom shows up. That does seem like alot of trileptal. My daughter is six and was on 750mgs of trileptal a day. She was on it for four years.I hope everything works out for you.
