Lamictal side-effects

Thu, 07/19/2007 - 14:37
My daughter, who just turned 3yrs old has had seizures since she was 6 months old has been taking Keppra for 2 yrs and started Lamictal about a 3wks ago. Ever since we started the Lamictal she has been beyond beleif hungry, all the time. She is never satifiyed. Our neurologist says this isn't a side effect of this medication and now wants her tested for a thyroid problem. Is anyone who is taking this medication or child taking Lamictal had weight gain and/or increased appetite? If anyone has experienced this, any feed back would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jay

Hello again. Morgan is a night owl. She wants to stay up all night long. It doesn't matter if your awake or not. Recently though she was put on topamax she is very active during the day and goes to bed at night around 10 pm which is a lot better then midnight or some hours of the wee morning. Sometimes she would stay awake all night and just want to eat. Then some mornings she will sleep until noon and I don't know if it is because she has been up all night. Maybe it is the lamictal. At first I thought she was going through a growth spurt, but staying up all night instead of sleeping like other kids. She's a wild one sometimes. Morgan is almost 2 I don't remember if I said that before. Take care, I wish you the best as well! Katie (Morgan's mom)
