Keppra

Mon, 11/27/2006 - 14:25
My 22 month old just got precribed Keppra. She is the most energetic and fun loving kid ever! The only time she has seizures (it has only happened 4 times too) is when she is woken up from a deep sleep. I know they could get worse or happen more often I am just worried putting her on drugs will make her tired or sick?! I sat in the floor and cried all morning watching her run around and play! Aren't mom's supposed to be the strong ones??? Well I just needed some advice on the seizure medication. I am sooooo unbelievably worried about side effects. Thanks so much for any advice or anything to prepare me for! Stef

After nearly 4 years of seizures, we tried keppra on my son. He has been in remission since August of '05 and has had only one seizure since starting Keppra. We had some reservations about the side fx associated with Keppra (irratibility, aggresiveness) but that has not been the case with my son. For us, Keppra was a miracle drug. I hope you find the answers you are looking for. And don't ever give up. Keep asking questions and keep pressing your doctor for the answers about drugs, risks, and side effects.
