A new Godiva Chocoholic Here

Hi, I'm fairly new here..been around for maybe a week or so. This seems like a pretty cool group to find out information about epilepsy treatments and make some great friends who will relate to life. A little about me... Well, I'm 32 years old. Female. Common-law. And, since I work in Information Technology, the joke is that my boyfriend needs to upgrade the "beta version" promise ring to a version 5.0 (this will be our 5 year anniversary in Oct) engagement ring. Time will tell. We plan on getting married some day late 2006 or early 2007 probably. So, my major concern is getting these seizures under control so some day he and I can attempt kids naturally. Oh ya, and I'm from Ontario, Canada - near Toronto. Dunno if anyone else is from Ontario, but my other major thing these days is (and ya, I know this may sound like whining, but it is what it is). Well, I have a decent job, but I hate it. My department is all "buddy, buddy boys club-ish" if ya know what I mean, and well, I'm not one of the boys. So, I get made to feel useless and nothing I say ever counts or matters. Well, in Ontario medical coverage for prescriptions comes with your job. I'm on Keppra, Topomax and Clobazam for seizures, plus birth control pills for hormonal seizures (IUD is real method), and I need my job for dental. No foundations will help me out for the 3 mth interim if I quit my job and get a new one, so really I have to make sure I have $1500 dollars saved up, and my guy makes less than me, so it's like I'm stuck in hell for the medical. Can't wait to maybe get off Topomax. Anyways, it's cool to find a great group of people, and be ablt to help out others in anyway I can. Looking forward to meeting lots of new people and becoming friends with people. Add me to your buddy list if ya want to...I'll try not to ignore people, but gotta admit life gets a little crazy at times! Sending a smile to all :) Godiva Girl (a chocoholic....love Godiva Truffles)

Hi GodivaGirl I'm new here on the site too, only joined a few days ago. Like the others replying to you, I've been in IT too! But I'm in South Africa. I've been a programmer, loved it to bits, then quit to have kids. I still miss it. I'm sorry you have such a hard time at work. In my country most men are okay these days (with women in IT), but me too had been there, working with the "in-club boys" and pushed to the side. I hope you can stuck it out until you have enough saved or made another plan. My brother in law is also getting married end of year, and my brother beginning next year. You must be SO excited! Enjoy it every step of the way. Take care, Essie (mom to Nian,5, who has epilepsy)
