Tegretol vs Tegretol ER

Has anyone switched from regular Tegretol to Tegeretol ER and if so has it minized the medications side effects?

Hi, not sure what Tegretol ER is? I switched to 'Tegretol Retard' quite a few years ago, which is like a 'slow release' form of the Tegretol. Is that the same thing that your'e talking about?

Do you mean Tegretol CR (control release) - maybe tegretol ER is extended release? Just a guess from someone who was once on Tegretol CR.

I have been taking Tegretol XR 200 for about 10 yrs & my pharmacy (Medco) just replaced the XR w/ ER since the ER 200 came out on the market May 2009 & my Rx was not written as DAW. I called & spoke to Medco pharmacist & he claimed there is no difference from the XR to the ER. I have concerns that the XR is time released, while the ER does not appear to be. The pharmacist assured me the ER has the same affect as the XR. I have reservations about his claim !!
Is the phramacist's claim TRUE ??
What is the 1/2 life of the XR 200 vs. the ER 200 ??
