skin rash with Trileptal?

Mon, 08/08/2005 - 23:52
OK, I have been on Trileptal for about 30 days now, and I have got this itchy rash that started on my forearms, and is now moving to the trunk of my body. It itches like crazy! Has anyone else reacted to Trileptal this way? If you did, what did your rash look like? The only reason why I'm asking is this: I have also done some yard work in the last two weeks, and I am wondering if it's poison ivy (which I've never had before either.) From what I understand, the gestation period for Trileptal is about 19-20 days, so it's more than likely I am allergic to it. Anyone else have this reaction? I have my appt. with my neurologist on Thursday, so hopefully we'll figure it out. Let me know!

I have had those burning sensations around my nose, but just once in a blue moon. How serious is that? My doctor has never made a big stink about it.

You may have already gotten this answer to your question, but several seizure meds cause rashes some which can be serious (ex. Steven Johnson's Syndrome).  If the problem hasn't cleared up yet, I would talk to your doctor immediately.  Not to scare you or anything, but some of the rashes can actually cause your skin to fall off......
