Meds worsen seizures?

They thought my son had absence seizures so put him on depakote-2 weeks later he had a grand mal, does anyone else know about the ae meds causing worse seizures? He's now on 2000 mgs 3 times a day!

I am surprised they tried Depakote for Absence. I thought Zarontin was usually the first one tried for absence only seizures. Depakote is also used for tonic clonics and partials so it is actually a pretty good one to try for covering a wide variety of seizures.
It is hard to get them controlled sometimes. Hoping you can find just a the right med to stop them.

you know im realy pissed off to heasr that. i think those drug pushers dont care as long as they can make a deal.today its all about monney. i went off my meds and started using gaba,dmg,b-12,folic acid. im not saying itll work for everyone but this stuff is good for you so why not try it?

Seizure meds can cause seizures. I was topamax and I had 20 seizures twice in a day I was hospitalized. I just had a reaction to it. But just because a med does not work doesnt mean that it was causing a seizure. Meds dont always help us get seizure free.
