LOVE KEPPRA HERE

Wed, 05/25/2005 - 06:14
Oh My--Well, I love Keppra. My 8 year old son was diagnosed in January (2 days before his birthday--nice huh?). The doctor said to try Keppra first as it has the fewest side effects of all the anti-convulsants. Here was are at the end of May and all is well! My son is 98% controlled and it's only not 100% due to our own learning as parents about controlling his sleep better.Now--honestly--for the first few weeks, he had some depression that Keppra can cause and I got very skeptical. However then we started him on vitamin B also and the depression went away. Now, he has his old personality back at 100%.I sure hope it works for you the way it has for him.Diane in Atlanta

Hi Tanya!  My daughter is almost 15 and her first seizure happenned when she was 3.  She didnt have another one until she was 10.  partial seizures and she had them once in awhile.  The dr put her on carbitrol and everything was ok for awhile and then she started having drop seizures.  Then she was put on lamictal then depakote was added and it has really messed her up.  Shes now decreasing the depakote and taking the keppra.  She has myoclonic epilepsy and she hasnt been seizure free since these drop attacks started.  I havent noticed any mood swings actually she seems in a better mood but shes still tired all the time but more alert.  Ive been hearing about the vitamin b6 and going to ask her dr about it.  Id like to talk to you more so if youd like you can email me... kandlsilva@earthlink.net

hey there!

I have been on Keppra for five years now, and it makes me dizzy and disoriented for a short period of time but I dont have as many gran mals as I used to, so I deal with the short "high" time.

BUT, my daughter just started taking Keppra and she has become a wild animal and an emotional rollercoaster.  She is 7 yrs. old.

Everyone deals with it differently.  You have to give it some time and see how it really effects you personally.  It may help or it may make you extremely miserable.

Either way, good luck with what you find for yourself...
