Looking for someone who knows about ....

Hi, once again the Drs had to switch my meds because of a allergic reaction to Depakote. I broke out in hives.....I have hives places i never knew hives would go.
The dr now put me on Neurontin. Does anyone have any experience with this med? Any side effects I should watch out for? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I pray I dont have an allergic reaction to this lke I have had with the others(Keppra,trileptal and now depakote).

Hello Karen. I've been on Neurontin for longer than I can remember along with Tegretol, and the only side effect that my doctor ever mentioned is that Neurontin can make it harder for the body to absorb folic acid, so he also proscribed a folic acid vitamin for me as well. I think he's worrying about nothing, but better safe than sorry. Just thought you'd want to know. Take care.

I was on neurontin, and didn't like the way I felt. I felt out of my body and dizzy, and drugged out. But I was on a pretty high dose. I am not on it anymore, as of Oct. I was switched, and am now on Zonegran and am not sure if I like it.

Hi, Neurontin is a medication best used with another tablet, I currently take tegretol and dilantin with the neurontin. You need to discuss it with your neurologist as to what tablet to take with it, not all tablets will work for all epilepsies. Yes, you may have started on to high a dose, from memory, I think my neurologist said to me when I first started with neurontin,that the maximum dose was 3200mg per day. Give it a chance before giving up on it. Aussie 2006
