Did you get worse after starting seizure medicine?

Tue, 08/08/2006 - 19:11
My 8 y.o. daughter was recently diagnosed with epilepsy. She started on medicine 1 1/2 weeks ago. However, her frequency of seizures has greatly increased. Has anyone else experienced this? Lori Mom of 8 y.o.

Hi Sol, Keppra wasn't used solo when it was first introduced, but it is beginning to be used solo. I am on Keppra as a solo med.

I see that you said you are on Keppra as a solo med. Have you seen improvements? How long have you been on Keppra? Do you have any visuall problems with being on Keppra? My daughter seems to be complaining alot more about lights being on in the house, or the brightness of the t.v. She also last night, had really bad pain in her eye, but it did not last long. I haven't had any specific vision problems that I am aware of, but the same medication can have two completely different effects on two different people. I had to smile at the "Icky and Ooky" comment. At 26, I could not possibly describe it any better than that. It doesn't surprise me that it might affect your daughter's eyesight. You know what might help? If you ask her every morning and every night how she feels and write it down. Also make a note of her common complaints and when she mentions them (date and time). It could help her neuro put a pattern to any side effects. Good luck!! :) ps, Visit Keppra.com. :)
