Smoking marijuana and drinking

Thu, 02/07/2008 - 01:51
I was just reading on this website all of the forums about drinking and smoking cigarettes and how bad they are for you. It didnt say anything about weed and I smoke weed maybe once a week or once every two weeks and is it bad for having seizures? Also if you drink maybe two beers to three beers once a weekend is that bad?

I can't imagine weed causing seizures. If anything it probably helps with cutting down electrical impulses. Alcohol does the same thing. Now alcohol with certain medications could be bad, just depending on how much alcohol and what medication. I'm on Depakote 125mg 3 times a day and haven't exactly gotten wasted so far, but a couple beers haven't hurt. And when the regular doctors wouldn't prescribe me anything a while back, if I drank or on the very rare occasion that I smoked weed, I knew I probably wouldn't have seizures that night or the next day. I hope I've helped!

My epilepsy had absolutly nothing to do with brain injury! Pot doesn't "fry" your brain ~ despite what 1980's t.v. told you! You think your brain isn't frying when you have a seizure? If smoking a little can prevent a grand mal, wouldn't it be worth it? After a seizure, i'm wrecked for hours, my sleep cycle is off for days (often causing more seizures) and my mood is volitile to say the absolute least. After a joint i'm relaxed and hungry. i can sleep.

Keep in mind, I'm not saying ditch your meds and hop on the pot wagon (though i did find some relief there), only that we should be open to anything that minimizes the all of the added 'spice' epilepsy brings to our lives!

As far as pot being bad for everyone... well, do try to keep up to date on all medical information, including foriegn sources. Germany has had some very positive results testing weed as a viable treatment option.

THC, the fun little ingredient that makes pot attractive, is present in all mammallian breast milk. When it was absent in mouse milk, the poor little baby mice all died. It is assumed that the outcome would be the same in humans. So, before you go damning the effects of pot, maybe educate yourself a bit.

My mom might have Epilepsy and she smokes weed but it seems to do the oppositre and helps make them stop but not always. My mom was diagnosed with diabetes in 2005 and it's really hard on her. Sometimes when my friends come over they get scared and want to go home 'cause they see her having seziures but some don't mind. I usually make sure if my mom took her med's for it or sometimes hse'll just ask. Some times mom get's scared and starts to cry and think she's a loser and she's not just for something to have happend with her health.

My mom used to dance and be really active does that have something to do with it to? Maybe being to active is the issue or maybe to much stress? I know it can also be caused by head injuries or tramatic events in your younger years. My mom also used to get teriblle migranes when she was younger then me! (Im 14) I find it kind of hard and frustrating to see my mom is pain like this and sometimes I even yell but I don't mean to. I really love my mom doesn't everyone love there mom? lol

Sometimes I look @ my mom and she just looks sooooo sad.

I think Marijuana helps yes it makes you air headed @ times but it helps make you feel better. Drinking coffee is another story.
