I was diagnosed at 16 too and Im on my first semester of college as a 17 year old.I actually had a similar experience with the doctors being rude then actually check something out and then they are all nicey nicey.

But anyways I totally regret not replying to you this late because I would have liked to have made a podcast for your project it souded really interesting. The school work is overwhelming right now.

Got any advice for someone without a definite major. Im juggling all this school work and it's kind of starting to feel like it's for nothing.Im on a Liberal Arts Program at a Community College. Im suppost to transfer to a different school sometime whenever, to take advantage of free tuition. And so Im worried that when I do realize "what I want to do in life", that the work is not tranferable and that it wouldv'e just been better to take a break.

Thanks so much!

Cristina

Hey,

I'm not 17 (21 instead) but I am in college, and I have had seizures since I was four.  College life in general is a lot different, there's more stress, more responsibilities and to be honest socially it's weird not being able to drink like everyone else.  If you have any questions about what it's like to go through such a huge change free to let me know, I'd be more than happy to talk about it or answer any questions.

I'm 18 and I started university in September. I have complex partial seizures and I don't find that they affect my studies very much, I am on lamotrigine and my epilepsy is well controlled. I told my flatmates when I moved in, so they would know what to do if I had a seizure, and I made an appointment with the medical centre on campus soon after arriving. If your seizures aren't controlled then you should probably tell someone at your uni - personal tutor, student welfare advisor, or a member of the disability support team. They will be able to give advice on lectures, exams, etc. If you have problems with memory you'll probably be allowed to record lectures. It's best to talk about it, keeping quiet only disadvantages you! Good luck.
