What do flickering/flashing lights do to you?

Sat, 05/16/2009 - 19:24

What effect do flickering or flashing lights have on you? Can you describe a bit how you feel when you encounter them and what happens to you?

Does everyone with epilepsy have a reaction to them? Is everyone photosensitive in this way or is photosensitive just one specific type, and there are others who are not bothered by what they see?

i get this overwhelimg fear, and although i have not been diagnosed with photosensitive epilepsy, i am epileptic. Out of dumbness i guess i decided to watch a dubbed version of the Pokemon episode which is infamous for causing seizures, but when it got to the part with the flashing lights, i couldn't move, and i felt very very scared. Kept seeing weird pokemon (i guess) in the corner of my vision, and when it came time to go upstairs i had to sidle up the wall, because i felt like something was coming for me. Have never had this problem before.

I don't think I have Epilepsy

I don't think I have Epilepsy but my great grandmother did. I have had problems with strobe lights this past year. My body shakes and jerks around. I lose my breath and can't even breath. My eyes go up in my head. They flutter when I go under moving lights in a tunnel or something. When I look at fluorescent lights I kinda feel spacy. It doesn't matter what kind of strobe light I look at I lose function over my limbs. Watched a video music video for the 1st time  while back and as soon as it started I started  spazing out.  Could this be concering and should I go see a doctor about this? or could this be flicker vertigo?
