stop criminalizing epilepsy

looking to start the above campaign : stop criminalizing epilepsy. too many adults with epilepsy find themselves in jail/prison due to a seizure in public being interpreted as resisting arrest.etc. let alone the numerous AEDs that cause fits of rage,Keppra is notorious for doing so. the statistics are outrageous for the number of people in prison with epilepsy, their affliction having put them there. when are these bad drugs going to be taken off the market. i get the impression that they're used as a cattle prod so that adults with epilepsy will end up there. why else are there so few of us out and about when it is not so rare a condition.?

Hi Joe I have also had epilepsy for almost 50 years and still have small daily seizures. I too have tried all types of meds and a VNS put nothing helped Have you heard of the drug Fycompa?? This works differently from other ant-seizure drugs. 5 months ago I started this and have gradually worked up to an effective level. I have not had a seizure in over a week and I'm amazed. Please try this and "post" your results. I don't know if my seizures will return- many meds I've tried work at first but then my brain "adjusts" to them and the seizures return. Another great thing about this Fycompa is it can replace your current drugs which may be causing long-term side effects.

Margie Doc and I have discussed the issue of meds many different times. I know I will probably never be seizure free. By working with Doc my seizures are down to a seizure every 8-14 days, We have also gotten the time in them down to a few seconds rather then the minutes they used to be. Me have also found a recover med which keeps them from going into clusters. Surgery is not an option because the scar tissue is in more then one lobe. The VNS will not work because I don't know when I will have one, But I'll take the seizures I have now over the ones I had way back when.

The ones to look at are the American Medical ID one since they can add your personal medical information. The police and EMT' see it and they have a number to call to get your doctors and medical information which could have any other medical issues you have. Which can help if you are taken to a hospital with a major problem. Or like I had a cluster of seizures.
