Self-Cure (albeit Temporary) For Myself...

Hi, My name is Mike, I'm 22. I live in Iqaluit, Nunavut. When I was a young guy, my mom had epilepsy (still does) and would constantly FrEAK me out at Bed & Breakfasts, home, etc.. Anyways, when I turned 19..I learned it was genetic. THANKS MOM! real great! (love her lots though, she's my mom!) Anyways.. I was working Night Shifts at Tim Hortons at the time period when I had my first seizure.. I was at my twin brother's friend's house. I was really, really tired..still living on the street at the time and just looking for a place to sleep that was warm. Well they were watching a movie and I wanted to sleep on the couch. And one of the girls there put snow down my shirt, while I was sleeping and I woke up so angry and felt a rigid tension in my body, that I would normally associate with anger, but this was different.. I got up and yelled at her and everyone got upset with me for that, but my brother told me to sleep upstairs in her mom's bed.. her mom said it was fine..so I went upstairs to sleep. I climbed into the bed and after about two minutes the tension that I felt from before was still there..it was Sooooo Uncomfortable!..Then in a FLASH my body got tight and my fingers locked up like I was grabbing a basketball in each hand and my toes pointed out in another sports related LEG EXTENSIONS technique.. My jaw opened and then froze and I felt my eyes roll back.. When I got my first glimpse of where I was afterwards, I was looking back at the house and I was being put backwards into an ambulance..I fell asleep after that, and woke up being wheeled into the hospital.. Anyways..I really enjoyed the orange juice and cereal in the morning..Canadian Hospitals Rock! About a year after that passed I discovered a technique almost by fluke of keeping myself away from seizures.. I can't find anyone else with the ability to do this, as it almost counteracts traditional cures! it's almost a cause for some! What I do is when I feel "Twitchy" or "Jumpy" as I call it when I feel like I'm going to have a seizure I turn on a light, or the television, or go on the computer, and as long as its not totally dark when I'm sleeping I'm fine. I also find I get really "Jumpy" when I'm really tired... Is anyone else like this? Does this work for anyone else? Is this even epilepsy? What Do People with this form do?

Sam This is very reasonable. That is what we are talking about with the sSeizures. It is a mind thing. We can control some but not all. I panic too quickly when I feel a generalized seizure is coming on. But I have gotten myself out of one of them a few times. I try to stay calm but I cant always with them, it is truely hard. take care Lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/
