seizures at work today
Sat, 09/22/2007 - 20:48 It will just make me feel better to write this,ok?
I got off work yesterday at 9pm. Had to get up at 6 am this morn to go back. I got maybe 3 hours good sleep.Also in the middle of my long nap I had a bout with sleep paralysis. We were shorthanded and I was doing a lot of hard work. I worked through my lunch hour and finally they came after 5 and a half hours of constant work with little sleep.
At first a few auras Then they got a little stronger feeling and then I started shaking. Id go hide in a corner and come back 10 miniutes later to try and work start shaking and go hide again.
I gave up and swallowed a valium which for me works like a miracle. Then ,about a hour and a half after the first auara I could work agin.
When I finally was able to work again I was crying like an overgrown baby feeling sorry for myself. I was so tired I must have looked like Lurch.
They have me working like that again 2 days next week Where I dont even have time to eat and sleep before I go back to work. I am going to call off.
I wouldnt have gone through that for 10 times what I make.
Thank you for reading this.I know some of are going through things that make this look like a picnic.

hi dave,
i know how yo feel. i work at night in a hotel. ive even had auras and partial seizures at work. i had an abscance seizure while a guest was talking to me once. its frustrating and scarey.
my boss knows about my E and told me to tell her when im not feeling "well". i tell her and its like talking to a brick wall. i don't want special treatment but i also dont want to be given 12 night shifts in a row with one day off in between (which im going through right now) which in turn is exhausting me to no end. i may sleep during the day but im living off of energy drinks during the night.
i tell her and im talking to a wall... a wall might even listen better.

First, it is the law in some states re: lunches and breaks. Where are you located?
Each of us is different. I often work 10, 14, 16 hr days. I survive. Hate the job and want out and do not get support from the members of my Union Local (different guys on different jobs daily, they all know me and many want me OUT). I have had a number of szrs with dropping to the ground. They don't feel safe around me. Used to work in one staff position and location through the Local and had some supporters there.
So, do others around you know and are they supportive? Does your boss know? How do they all feel, have they expressed anything? Have they seen a szr? Do they understand them?

I think it does I started having sleep paralysis when I was 14, now Im 21 and Im having (what may be) seizures every week
