seizures at work today

Sat, 09/22/2007 - 20:48
It will just make me feel better to write this,ok? I got off work yesterday at 9pm. Had to get up at 6 am this morn to go back. I got maybe 3 hours good sleep. Also in the middle of my long nap I had a bout with sleep paralysis. We were shorthanded and I was doing a lot of hard work. I worked through my lunch hour and finally they came after 5 and a half hours of constant work with little sleep. At first a few auras Then they got a little stronger feeling and then I started shaking. Id go hide in a corner and come back 10 miniutes later to try and work start shaking and go hide again. I gave up and swallowed a valium which for me works like a miracle. Then ,about a hour and a half after the first auara I could work agin. When I finally was able to work again I was crying like an overgrown baby feeling sorry for myself. I was so tired I must have looked like Lurch. They have me working like that again 2 days next week Where I dont even have time to eat and sleep before I go back to work. I am going to call off. I wouldnt have gone through that for 10 times what I make. Thank you for reading this.I know some of are going through things that make this look like a picnic.

Hi Dave, I agree with everyone - take care of yourself first. It's important to note that if you're not feeling up to working those hours, make the point of letting your employer know about it. Another important issue is your health, does your employer know that you are epileptic? Regardless of the fact you never should work through a lunch hour, ever. They are given to you for a reason so take them and use them for eating and recharging energy. I used to put in 50 to 60 hours a week and I'm quite familiar with long days (and nights). I remember working well past eight hours and regretting it when I didn't because I needed an "extra 10 minutes" to finish something. What I learned was that "extra 10 minutes" turned into a 1/2 hr or more and before I knew it, I was getting burnt out. Lesson learned very quickly. Anyway, I hope you feel better soon! Sue ------------- Do the impossible today. For yesterday is gone and the opportunity of tomorrow may not be what you expect.

Hi Dave... I also agree with

Hi Dave... I also agree with everyone; you health comes first. Talk to your boss about E, and hopefully he/she understands. I sort of know what you mean; but I am lucky. On September 11th, I had a really had partial psychic at work (at least not a T/C), but I've had these for 38 years and this was probably about the worst one I had. I heard Chinese people calling my name, standing above my body and looking down, total confusion with reading/writing...I that it was going to generalize. I sat in my cubicle and cried for over an hour and couldn't get under control. A co-worker called my wife and she came and pciked me up. Luckily most of my co-worker know about my E, so they all understood and I was able to work at home for a few days. Had the standard MRI, EEg, etc... It's still affecting my comprehension and concentration 2 weeks later so I'm going to my Epileptogist in about another week. Good luck and take it easy. Doug

Does anyone know if sleep paralysis is related to seizures? I asked my doc once and never got a response. Quite a few years ago I had a few bouts with sleep paralysis and now I am wondering if this is all related. Thanks! Dave, I really hope you feel better soon. I too can be an emotional wreck afterwards so don't feel badly. We are only human. Sometimes I think it is better to let it all out than to let the stress build and create a bigger problem. You aren't alone. Take care, Believe
