recurrent (serial) seizures

Mon, 09/04/2006 - 22:12
Has anyone experienced these who has simple partials? They seem to hit like once every 3 to 4 minutes, then I start to recover and then another hits. Can go on for hours if not for meds. Sam

Sam- I have this problem as well, but only when I'm sleeping and only when I'm close to the next dose of my seizure meds. I take my meds at 7 am and 6pm. Usually around 3 or 4am 2 or 3 times a week I will have these cycles that make me feel like I am going thru shock therapy in my sleep. It also happens if I try to take a nap on the weekends around 2 or 3 in the afternoon. This never happened when I was on the Depakote but I think that because the Keppra and the Topamax are processed in the kidneys instead of the liver that my levels don't remain as even thoughout the day. I also have to drink a lot of fluids thru the day because the Topamax dehydrates me severely. I don't want to tell my neurologist about these episodes because I'm afraid he will up my meds and I'm actually happy for the first time in 6 months with the way I feel except for these episodes. Don't know if these are the same as what you are having , hope this helps! Good Luck! By the way, See that your on line today, would like to chat with you, but can't because of software issues. Didn't want you to think new buddy was being rude. Will always be willing to talk through forum or e-mail though. Good Luck, Sam. Kelly
