How long do YOU feel strange after a seizure?

Tue, 03/27/2012 - 23:32
I figured I would share my situation and how I am feeling with people who hopefully can relate, because I am a bit scared currently. I had my first seizure some 8 years ago and have been dealing with them ever since. I always have felt slightly strange after a seizure maybe 3 or 4 days after as though my head has released all kinds of memories and I am just sifting through them all and regaining my present self. I went seizure free for two years and thought maybe I had tamed this beast. Of course epilepsy wont go away that easily and I recently had two seizures over the course of 3 weeks. It has been about a week since the last one, and that feeling of released memories and vibes from the past has become overwhelming and I cannot seem to get back to feeling normal. I am very anxious, bouts of depression have been frequent, and nothing seems to make me feel normal, and I am getting scared that I never will feel so again. I am not sure what has happened, I just want to share this with you all and hope that somebody else can relate and let me know they have gone through this and come out ok in the end. Or maybe it is a personal demon I must combat. The question is posed for everybody, how long does it take you personally to start feeling normal again? Thank you.

I usually go the rest of the day feeling off but this last one (Monday morning and writing this Wednesday night) really takes the cake. I apparently stopped breathing and turned blue according to my wife. Scares the shit out of me. I'm a BIG guy but can be brought to tears when I feel one coming on. I'm glad I'm not the only one in a "fog" a fee days later. Thanks for all the stories everyone. Cheers!!

My heart goes out to all of you... I had my first seizure Christmas morning and it's been hell since. I feel like I can't escape my own thoughts. I am happy as long as I am cooking cleaning or running, but the rest the day I am filled with sadness and guilt. It's been a few weeks now and everyone says 1 day and I'm starting to panic. I am willing to put in any work to help myself. Does anyone have anything that might help them get through the depression beside pills?

I have been diagnosed with

I have been diagnosed with epilepsy since I was 8 years old, some 15 years ago. I went through a stage of having no seizures whatsoever for a good 11 months and I thought I had finally got it under control. However since then my seizures have been irregular and occur at strange times. I used to have an aura before my seizures, but I don't even have that any more. I worry that whenever I go anywhere I will have a seizure, because of this I prefer not to travel alone. After a seizure I have found it is taking me a lot longer to recover, the older I get. I feel a nausea that can't be settle, however sometimes I do vomit. I have recurring headaches for a couple of days after, and I have problems remembering things that have just been told to me. Its as though my memory is trying to recover from before the seizure. I hope this makes you feel better as you now know you are not alone in feeling peculiar after your seizures. If you need someone to talk to, I suggest either your epilepsy specialist or your specialist nurse. Although they sometimes look at you like your mad, they just don't quite understand as they have not had the seizures themselves, regardless of all their qualifications. If you want to talk, I'm always happy to help in any way I can.
