How Clumsy Are You?
Wed, 09/13/2006 - 14:21Out of curiosity, how many of you are clumsy because of your seizures? When I am having SPS and go what I term 'a little spacey', if I am holding anything, I have a tendency to drop it. Another example that is common with me, is managing to stumble and trip up on the straight floor of my kitchen, while standing still, first thing in the morning, where SPS are really common with me.
It's infuriating because it's rarely seen by people around me as anything other than me not paying attention (oh how familiar it sounds to my teacher in primary school when I would space out!) but I'm certain it's part of seizing.
Any thoughts?

to say that i am very clumsy would be such an understatement. i have gps. i have dropped whole trays of donuts at a coffee shop (not what you want to do as a woman and you are still young enought to think that others care what you eat). i run into everything and am constantly covered in bruises.
my favorite things i have done bc of my 'clumsiness' include dropping my cell phone in the toilet and it flushed down the drain. a year or two before that, i dropped my keys in the toilet and they flushed down.
at least we are not alone!

Omg - I am super clumsy! I trip going up the stairs, run into a wall, drop stuff, miss a chair.... You name it and I have done it. I am glad I am not the only one who experiences these moments and often too :) Luckily, i dont get embarrased easily :)

What you describe is associated with one (or more) of the many types of the epilepsies (aka tendency to drop what you are holding) it seems to me. Being clumsy also can occur in some persons who do not have epilepsy at all. http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/dyspraxia/dyspraxia.htm
