Hot Flashes

Sun, 06/19/2016 - 14:43
I can't seem to find much online about this topic. I was wondering if anyone else will randomly get really hot and even sweaty. This can happen at any time, I'll just be walking around and then all of sudden feel very hot and maybe start sweating. I also will wake up some nights and find my sheets wet from sweat. I have never passed out or had a seizure to my knowledge after one of these hot flashes. Just wondering if I'm alone with this or if it is something others deal with as well.

I was getting hot flashes all

I was getting hot flashes all day. Kept various levels of temp clothing next to my bed and would change all night-shorts, sweats, blanket, no blanket etc... Also, once I got hot (even from a slight increase in activity level) I would be miserably hot for hours. Always steaming up the car windows and SWEATING. For some reason recently this has become much more under control and have less heat issues but still will have sweat spells. I was also tested for menopause and peri-menopause but not there yet (and one of my seizure types includes Catamenial seizures). I have also heard that seizure activity can increase or decrease during menopause times. I am 53 but the "hot" issues did start at the age of 40 after my seizures returned after being off medication for about 10 years.

My husband has just started

My husband has just started getting them.  He had 4 or 5 over the weekend and ended up having a full blown seizure today.  His neurologist advised that hot flashes were not related to epilepsy.  Obviously he doesn't know everything.   I have increased his Trileptal dose by one to see if that's control the seizures and the hot flashes.   For my husband I feel the hot flashes were a warning signal that a full seizure was coming o just like sometimes people smell something or see the dotted lights.
