Excess facial hair growth

Thu, 02/15/2007 - 22:55
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this as a side effect of the seizure meds they take . . . if so how do you deal with it? I've been using various methods . . . tweezing, cream facial hair removers, etc - at one time I was having electrolysis done, but that's very expensive and VERY painful!! Any other suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks! Erica

BIG HAIRY BAD DEAL & OH OH OH so glad someone is willing to discuss this. i happen to be italian so docs alwayz blew it off to that. Overgrowth effects my arms & face. My dermotologist suggested laser removal & its worked well but quite costly. Its a "removal package" which with a maintenance plan so if hair reappears I go back for free. Im working on the insurance co. to help w/cost. Stating that acne & gum overgrowth are covered because of the dilantin why not cover this? I've gotten my dermotologist to say its med related. Im hopin more of us will stand up to insurance co & tell them this is a "hairy deal" that should be removed! Here's to a smooth & "free" day in the meantime!

I've noticed this problem lately, too. Excess facial hair. Did't think anything about it until just now. Have been using facial hair removal products with hair supressant applied afterward. It seems to work OK. And probably less costly than the laser. After a couple of weeks the yucky hair is gone in that spot but seems to appear like magic in another area! Just went back to steps mentioned above ...will now look into what you mentioned.

I have noticed this too! I've always gotten my eyebrows waxed but lately I've noticed that I'm growing more hair on my checks. I was mortified when I first saw it(still am actually). I've also been having to wax my upper lip and the hair seems to grow back pretty fast.
