My boyfriend suffers with epilepsy

Tue, 06/15/2010 - 11:21
My boyfriend got epilepsy in 2005. His seizures are very strange, he becomes very violent and shouts things out. He can actually stand up and walk about he punches and kicks and we have to try and stop him from hurting himself.  Sometimes he will just fall to the ground and shake but most the time he has these very violent episodes. Everybody else I have spoke to says they have never had anything like this.  Im just wondering if anybody on here has seizures like this.  I really dont know what to do anymore it seems to be getting worser and worser. I know this probably doesnt make much sense but I feel like I need to speak to somebody about it because it is really getting me down aswell.

Claire, has your boyfriend seen a neurologist yet?  If not, here's a Comprehensive list of GOOD Neurologists, Epileptologists and Neurosurgeons, as recommended by eforum members of the EFA, based upon positive personal experiences.  http://my.epilepsy.com/node/985817

If you can, go with him.  It's always good to have a "second set of ears" and someone to take notes.  Also, no doubt, you've observed things he's unaware of.  Go armed with questions, seizure incidents, meds he may be on and any history that's relevent.

If you don't understand what the doc is saying, ask him to explain again.  (And take notes.)  Find out what he wants your boyfriend to do once you leave the office.  And get a contact number in case you have any questions later.    Phylis Feiner Johnson   www.epilepsytalk.com

My first seizure was like this but I didn't hit anyone just shout bad words and act so violent. I remember my first seizure in 2005, It took a while to remember. I was watching Lord of Ring and eating Cheese Mac in my bedroom and all suddenly I was feeling totally dizzy and heavy and I start shout for my mother and for some reason I don't know why I even get angry and I told mom bad words and act really angry and I remember my mother was so shock and scared & confusing she had no idea why I said those thing to her so she asked me sit down and I didn't and my mom said sit down right now or I am calling police and all suddenly I stand there and fall down backward on stairs and dropping my pager and having first seizure. My mom was so confuse and doesn't understand why I am like this. So she called 911 after I woke up from seizure I was so confuse and I asked mom what going on and she said "You r very sick and going to hospital" I was so lost once I arrived hospital nurse was asking me question I told them I feeling fine. Mom was explaining to me what happen and I don't understand why and what it is. So, I went to first neurologist doctor and he explained everything about seizure.
