Mind pulses, head zaps?

Thu, 03/03/2005 - 07:47
Every few months, my husband has something happen where it's like he feels pulses in his head that interupt his concentration. they only last about 2 seconds but can happen every minute or two. This lasts about 5 days before it goes away. He has not had a major seizure for about 7 years, so he is very fortunate, but we're concerned about these "head zaps" and the doctor doesn't really seem to know what to tell him. He just increased his meds. Sometimes it happens when life is stressful and sometimes it just happens, so we don't know if it is really related to stress. Has anyone else ever had this happen?

I keep getting these and I was wondering what they are. They come in various forms for me. Sometimes they are in the back lower part of my brain and feel as though an electrical shock is repeatedly peircing my brain. This is very different than a headache as you expressed. As a headache is more superficial this is very internal. Right now I am experiencing continuous, what feels like and can vaguely be described as, pulsating electrical shocks,in my brain by my left temple. These are less severe than the ones in the back of my head.

You are not alone. This is yet another reason why this sight is so wonderful. I too was complaining about my brain pains, or zaps, and my roommate asked if I wanted medicine... If only that would solve the problem haha.

Let me know if anyone figures out what they are.

Best of luck to you! We are all here for one another. :)

It is good to hear that I am not the only one going threw these episodes. I just dont know how you all function. when I am having a  bad day with them I can hardly function. they make me realy tired also. does this happen to anyone eles? I have been back and forth with the doctors about weather they are related to my epilepsy or not. I also have chronic migrains and they think that may play a part. I sure wish they would figure this out soon.
