Tonsilitis not epilepsy?? Desperate!!

Sun, 02/12/2017 - 03:52
Hello My daughter has recently been diagnosed with epilepsy ... but i am convinced its her enlarged tonsils causing the seizures and not epilepsy ... she has had 5 chronic tonic seizures in 3 months and all have been while she is eating food ... the first happened in november after she had a bad chase of tonsilitis one of her tonsils remained enlarged and is blocking one side of her airway ... she then didnt have another seizure till january and again she was eating when this happened ... shes had an eeg and the only time anything abnormal showed up was when they got her to hyperventilate her o2 saturation went down to 85% and she was gasping for breathe and the drs declared she had an absent seizure ... the dr reckons that its an abnormal occurance that she just happened to be eating when she had all 5 seizures?? She has never had one any other time she is 7 years old and the seizures only started after the enlarged tonsils appeared ... i am fighting to get my daughters tonsils taken out and am currently asking for time ... the dr got very offended and demanded i get a second opinion as i cleaerly didnt think he had the right medical background ... i just want to be 1000 percent sure this is epilepsy and not her tonsils before we put her on life changing medication please can anyone help me or advise me on this i am desperate ... thank you for reading this.

An update.  She had her surgery early, the seizures stopped immediately after removing her tonsils.  She had non-epileptic seizures multiple times daily.  Not one has occurred in the last 4 weeks since the moment she woke up from surgery.
