Normal EEG, now what?

Tue, 05/30/2017 - 09:46
My 8 your own daughter had what is believed to be a seizure two weeks ago. She had a normal CT at the hospital. We were scheduled for an EEG two weeks after the episode this past Friday. I just received the results and they read that the EEG showed waves of youth but that it was not of concern & that the EEG was "basically normal." It was only a 20 minute EEG so I'm not totally comfortable with the results. I'm so frustrated that they did not perform the EEG the day of the episode. We meet with our family Dr to discuss the results but I'm not sure what our next step should be.

there is a range of normal to

there is a range of normal to different before something is in the known abnormal range. I'm not an eeg person, but this web site lists it as a curiosity, https://www.pediatrics.emory.edu/divisions/neurology/education/pedeeg.htmlsorry about the above, if your gut says (not hit days) something isn't right, follow up. there is a personal cost/stress associated with medical testing but as that line is different for everyone, you'll need to judge what makes sense for your child. it sounds like talking to a neurologist might be reasonable, it can take a while to get in.

Lots of children have seizures. If it happens more than once in a short span of time. Thats when they start scanning the brain. And they start paying attention!!.. But if i was you i would force them to do the tests.. You need to push the doctors hard. I would have been diagnosed alot younger if i had the correct tests. Dont mind the fucking lump on my ocipital lobe.. its all good lol... Have a good night.
