my 9 year old son just getting diagnosed

Fri, 06/05/2015 - 21:22
I really hope any of you can help me understand whats going on with my son. He has been diagnosed with epilepsy and his neurologist said that the activity is coming from the frontal lobe yet the type of seizure activity I have actually witnessed is when he is sleeping and his body jerks..especially in his shoulders. I have read about myoclonic epilepsy but thought that normally happens upon waking and is a general form of epilepsy? He is still getting more testing done so they aren't quite sure what type of epilepsy he has. He states he sees sparkles or colored spots but his neurologist said that he would have epileptiform activity in the occipital lobe which he doesn't. Im so confused :(

Your very welcome By knowing where in the brain the abnormalities are comming from they will look closer in those areas to see if anything is different from a normal MRI or normal brain groth. It was an EEG in which I fell slaeep in that showed where in the brain the abnormalities came from. The MRI came back normal until the EEG showed what area to look closer in. After a closer look they found scared brain tissue in the left lobes of my brain. The scar tissue was from a hemorage to the head. The hemmorage was from a blow to my head which would have knocked me out and the tiome that happened was between 6-8 yoa. well when I was 7 I hit my head hard but back then the doctors were more worried about the 4 teeth knocked out and the gash in my jaw and tongue then a big bump on my head. It did take 32 stiches in my jaw and tongue. Oh and I wanted more teeth then 2 fromt teeth. By the end of summer I was missing 8 front teeth
