Chiropractors?

Sat, 08/01/2009 - 14:48

Has anyone tried this? How did it go. I've heard that having adjustments has helped some people dramatically.  I even read this in an epilepsy textbook online. On another website there was a story about a girl who had multiple grand mals a day and they were stopped.

I don't knowwhat the science behind it is, exactly. Something to do with the spine affecting nerves. But they don't even always know the mechanism of action with regard to the drugs. I'm going to make an appointment for the upcoming week.

Also, if your son was in any car accidents or falls or anything that could have knocked the spine out of whack, then you should definitely try it, because then spine problems are more likely to cause the szs.

I went for about two years. Not for the epilepsy. I had found out that I had scoliosis. The doctors were always like "do some back exercizes and you'll be fine". Well I went to the chiro and he did xrays and right away he's like here's your problem.

So yes, going made me feel tons better. It didn't help the seizures but I felt great. So for me I guess it didn't work.

The Chiropractor I worked w/ was aware of my seizures and the medications I was taking.  She was a good listener.  She was always careful of the neck area.  She was very gentle.  Make sure a friend or Dr. knows about the Chiropractor or you are familar w/ the person.  They can be very helpful along w/ the Neurologist. It made the seizures lessen and the medications work a lot better for me.  I wish you the best!
