Panic attack versus seizure

Sat, 02/28/2009 - 06:08

What is the difference between a panic attack and a seizure? The seizure I had this evening started with a sheer panic attack and progressed into a complex partial seizure. I felt sheer terror at first working up my spine and then it generalized into a true seizure, where I lost consciousness.

Has anybody else had this happen to them? Any information or response would be grateful.

I've had seizures off and on since I was 5 years old now I'm 26. I hadn't a seizure in 6years since March this year I had one and again in May now I'm on the medication levetiracetam I'm expressing severe panic and anxiety attacks has anyone else expressed this and any suggestions I should do? I'm terrified because I'm a single mother of 4 young children and alone with them everyday what if the anxiety and panic attacks lead to a seizure while I'm alone with them I'm pretty much alone in the world just me and my kids. Any help or advice would be highly appreciated

I'm 29 and having simple

I'm 29 and having simple partial seizure. Mine is always the same:  a rising sensation in my stomach. It starts in the stomach and rises in waves up the chest to the throat or head.Consciousness or awareness is not affected, bu I get really scared because of this strange feeling. I'm having these seizures more than 10 years. I visited lots of hospital departmants: gastrology cardiology internal diseases. Everything was normal so they said I'm having anxiety disorder and panic attacks. I am still taking cipralex. I accept I have anxiety disorder, because I had a disease and it didn't go away even though I took anti-depressants, and thats  becaue they didn't know it was a partial epilepsy. One day I have  long seizure(1 minute), it's usually 5 seconds. Then I went to a neuro. She was the one who finally nderstood that I have a simple partial seizure. We took an EEG and saw that I have epilepsy.  I took tegretol 300 mg every 12 hours. But  I have some stress and anxiety for past 4  weeks. Yesterday I had a seizure, it was 3 minutes. I was really terrified. I talked to my neuro she said I had seizure and panic attack at the same time. I don't know what to do, my epilepsy doesn't go away even though I take my medications regularly. I am having concerns, it will happen again. If you're having that kind of partial epilepsy any help or advice would be highly appreciated
