Sodium Valproate (Epilim/Depakene) Made My Hair Fall out!

Hi! I recently stopped taking Epilim (Sodium Valproate/Depakene) because it was making my hair fall out! :( Has anyone else had this side-effect from Sodium Valproate? Before, I was on Lamictin (Lamotrigine/Lamictal) and it made me SO exhausted that we had to change it to Epilim! :( Thanks and keep well! :)

HelloI have had hair loss in my my beard but thankfully not my scalp. I thought it was a natural occurence until I came to this forum.

I was on depakote which is the same and i had hair so thick you couldnt buy anything to put it up with. i lost it by the hand fulls every time i washed it and my hair brush was always full of hair. i got them to take me off of it after a year cuz it never got better and they said it would. my hair is thick again but never returned to the thick mass it use to be. i have always had long hair, to my hips as a teen and then waist, now i just keep it mid back. its always been me, long thick hair so i had to switch neuros back in the early 90s to get off of it. the tegretol was working the neuro just wanted me on something more update. another reason i switched. banffgirl

Hi! Thanks SO much for your reply! :) Like you, I also have EXTREMELY thick hair, which is very long (down to the end of my rear-end)! :) Are you still on Tegretol? Keep well! :)
