Worried mom of a 5 year old

Sun, 06/19/2016 - 07:24
Hello! Im new to this forum. My name is Renee and I have a beautiful 5 year old little girl. She started showing odd symproms a year ago. Staring spells and odd behavior in her sleep. I took her to a neuro and hsd 2 eegs done. One was at the office and one was a 48 hour. Both showed abnormalities. The neuro ordered an mri. I did not want to do the sedated one, im just worrie about complications with sedation. So we tried it without sedation and she only lasted about 15 minutes before getting uncomfortable and scared. The neuro and radiologist agreed that nothong was abnormal from what they could see and didnt recommend a sedated mri. Shes had a coupleof minor seizures since. We opted out on medication and the neuro agreed that if things remain the same then no medication is needed and to follow up. Im petrified that the 15 minutes in the mri wasnt enough and thst something is going on like a tumor. Im a very paranoid mother with alot of anxiety. My daughter also has anxiety, and there is alot of change going on right now with the new move, new school etc so i think stress is bringing out symptoms lately. Any advice?

I have two kids with anxiety,

I have two kids with anxiety, one of them also has epilepsy. I was shocked to learn that many children with epilepsy also have anxiety, OCD and ADHD. I do cognitive behavioral therapy with my 7 and 10 year old. I highly recommend it! It's hard to find a good practitioner that doesn't work from a work book. But it's wonderful because it gives them coping skills. the more you can do to avoid triggers (stress being a boggie) the better.
