New to this board.

My son who is 12 had a seizure for the first time on May 30. His eyes were rolled back up into his head, he was drooling, and his whole body was jerking. He was taken to the ER. He had blood work and Cat Scan done. They came back fine. From what people told me, the seizure lasted between 10 - 15 minutes. I do have a family history of Epilepsy in my family. My brother has it, my one nephew and his sister has it, another nephew had seizures from the age of 9 - 12. Another brother of mine had one seizure when I was a kid. Went to the neurologist yesterday. The doctor measured my sons head, made him walk frontwards and backwards, took his blood pressure, and listened to his heart. He then turned the lights off and shone a light into my sons eyes. Later on, my son complains to me that that light was awfully bright, and it hurt his eyes. He then wound up with a headache and had to take Tylenol. The doctor gave us a toll free number to get info about Epilepsy. Does this mean the doctor is believing my son is going to have Epilepsy? On July 31 there is a sleep deprived EEG scheduled.

My daughter just started having seizures almost 3 months ago and she is 7. The Neuro was very vague with me to begin with too, in fact I still struggle getting info from him and understanding him. But they did tell me that nothing would be determined for sure until after the EEG results would come back. If he is having seizures they will leave an "imprint" in his brainwaves for them to see, or possibly they will see some durring the EEG, that you can't see from the outside. But they would not say the word until after the EEG. Good luck..

The EEG will hopefully be able to tell you and your doctor what is going on with your son. Good luck and I hope that it all works out for you and your son. Take care, Paws
