I'm new...need some info please..

Hi Everyone, I'm new here. I'm Karla and I've got a 7 year old daughter with a seizure disorder, migraines, and Tourettes. She's had seizures since birth. To make a very long complicated story short, her Neurologist has recently increased her meds to a level that makes me so very nervous. She takes Trileptal daily and has for several years now with no problems and about 6 months ago she started taking Lamictal not only to help with breakthrough seizures but also to help with the Migraines and Tics. Her Tics can get so severe that they are concerned it could be partial seizures. She is now taking 900mg Trileptal and 150 mg Lamicatal daily and it seems like so much medication to me. So far we've not noticed any side affects but I'm sick to death worried about what these meds could be doing in the long run. My daughter is doing very well despite significant delays as a toddler. She can do most anything any other child her age can do and she is a Jr. Black belt in Karate. Her Neuro is now insisting on a Psych evaluation as she does have behavior and learning issues. She is very mean and aggressive and is struggling with Math. I don't want to get a psych involved. Maybe I'm just scared- I don't know. She is the youngest of 4 and is homeschooled. I'd appreciate any kind of advice or comments. Karla

When I was first diagnosed with epilepsy my neurologist worked me up to about 800mg of dilantin a day. The side effects of the dilantin were too much to deal with. I was in college and had trouble learning because I had trouble focusing and remembering. After I explained this to my neurologist he weaned me off of dilantin and on to lamictal. I am currently on 300mg of lamictal a day. I haven't noticed any adverse side effects.
