Ethosuximide(zarontin) How well does it work?

Tue, 09/22/2015 - 14:29

Hi! My son was recently diagnosed with absence seizures. He is 6 years old. His doctor prescribed Ethosuximide(zarontin) and I'm wondering, how well does this medication works? Has any of your children taken this medication? What were the pros and cons? And, would you recommend this medication?

My son was diagnosed 5 weeks

My son was diagnosed 5 weeks ago and was put on this. As our DR told us, it's not the best medication for absence seizures, but its the SAFEST as far as side effects, etc. We just had his first blood draw yesterday and have another EEG scheduled in about 2 weeks. So we'll see if its been working, but I'll be honest, I haven't noticed any absence seizures since.
