EEG for baby, how to keep busy..

Tue, 08/14/2007 - 16:23
I am wondering how do you keep an almost 1 year old occupied for an EEG? With Kaitlyn it was a little eaiser but I am not sure how to do it with Christopher. He will be 1 this month and doesn't have a very good attention span. We are doing a sleep deprived EEG tomorrow. I am worried about how he will be when we are having the leads put on and also, when he goes to fall asleep... does he have to stay completely still? With Kaitlyn with her first 30-45 minute EEG they said we couldn't hold her because she had to lay completely still, but when the 24 hr VEEG she was able to do whatever whenever. With this one I am wondering if I will be able to hold and nurse Christopher during the time while we are there, in hopes that he will fall asleep easier and faster. Anyone have any tips? Some how we have to keep him awake until midnight and wake him up at 5:00 AM... how do I keep him awake?! Thanks! Emily

Hi Emily, How did it go? Have you heard any results? I'm sorry that you're having to go through this testing with your son as well. It must be so exhausting. I'm always fighting fears that my other children will exhibit evidence of a seizure disorder. I guess I'm learning to trust God that he'll help me through whatever comes. But in the meantime, we moms worry about our babies! So please keep me posted on your baby. Margie

Margie, I haven't found out anything yet. I guess the neuro was out of town all last week so we should find out this week. I'm frustrated because I was trying to get in touch with him all last week about Kaitlyn and he never got back to me about her either. Urgh. Doctors! Thanks for asking though!! How is Karissa doing?? Take care!!! Emily
