BRE

My 10 yr old son was recently diagnosed with BRE. We had never before noticed any siesure activity before. My sitter who has a daughter with CP and is well adapt in recognising the signs noticed some shaking in his hands. His pediatrician desided to do the EEG. He is scheduled to see the neurologist soon. What I am most concerned about is that since seizures are apparently subtle how will I know that he is having them.

my only guess that my daughter was having her fits was she stared into space and her eyes were diolated then she started hands and feet shaking all over the place she wasnt stiff i guess depends on the child all kids and adults are diff when they have seizures (fits) but all my advice is just watch your child and monitor him incase he does go into a fit you will see what he does before he actually falls into one its diff with every kid but im sure there is a sign just have to watch him you will pick it up in no time i also hope he gets better good luck with it

My daughter was diagnosed this summer turning 8 with BRE. She awoke at 6am having a grand mal seizure. Then she was seizure free until jan when she had a relapse and had 7 in three weeks. Mostly BRE seizures are pre and post sleep so it should alawys be in the night. is this what you are seeing? Keep an eye out to make sure of what patterns you are seeing. We started trileptal and have been seizure free since FEB. It was a big decision but it sure was the right one. you will get used to this whole scene. Just keep reading and ask as many questions as you need. THere are many people on this sight that have children with BRE. good luck.
