After School Programs

Thu, 08/25/2016 - 16:36
Good Afternoon - My daughter is 5 years old and was diagnosed with myoclonic epliepsy in March. She takes Keppra, which makes her aggressive and violent. We have been working with her neurologist to control her behavior, but we have finally decided to wean her off this medication. I received an email today that the after school program at her elementary school has expelled her from their program because of her aggression. For the safety of the other kids, they will no longer work with her or give her additional time to acclimate to the new environment or new medication regimen. Have any other parents gone through this? It feels like what is happening is wrong but she is not protected under an IEP in after school. Any help/guidance/experience you may have would be awesome as we are truly lost right now.
