Did I have a seizure?

Fri, 06/03/2011 - 17:03
I am 24 and have never experienced anything like this before. I had just put my children to bed and had an intense feeling of deja vu. I kept telling my husband That I was feeling really weird, and he said it would go away in a few minutes and to quit freaking out. After about 3 or so minutes, I turned to tell him I was still having "Deja vu" but when I spoke, garbled jumbled up words came out of my mouth instead. Then when I tried to cry, I started hysterically laughing instead. Then I went into a "zone." I could hear eveythibg my husband was saying and knew everything that I wanted to say back, but I couldn't say anything, just stare. He rushed me to the ER, but by the time we got there, I was "back." I was still a little off and started getting a horrible headache. The doctors there were convinced I was on drugs due to the fact I wasn't quite all there, but after a CT scan and blood tests, they sent me home as having "anxiety." By the time I got home my head hurt so bad I threw-up and slept for nearly 18 hours. Followed up with my GP and he thought it was just a bad migraine and had never heard of any of the symptoms I was describing, but through doing my own research, I have seem to come up with some of my own theories as to what is going on. I go to the neuro on Friday. Any suggestions?

It sounds like you probably were experiencing seizures.  Make sure to write down everything you want to discuss with your neurologist.  Include the experiences with your G.P. and E.R.  Anxiety can often can be a trigger for seizures.  Migraines are often the type of headaches experienced following a seizure.  Include all medications you take whether over-the-counter or Rx.  List all vitamins and suppliments.  Hopefully, your neurologist will find the right AED to take so you can feel normal again.  Best wishes!

It is important the time it occurs.

your sx's., how long it lasts

I have had sz's a long time and my family ignores them unless they are dramatic.  You are your own keeper at times.

Pat yourself on your back!  You are a super person!

You do not always get a migraine after a partial-complex seizure.  It varies from patient to patient!

I have had 3 surgeries.  I also have a VNS.
