Trileptal.. is it too new for everyone?? Haven't read it from anyone!

Oxcarbazepine.. FDA app. in 2000, a baby in it's own right. I did a drug study with oxcarbamazepine in 1996, and 4 years later (ignoring meds those years) I find the approved version, Trileptal. I was so excited, cuz I didn't have any side effects during that study, and with Tegratol I had no reasoning skills, and I'm allergic to Dilantin! Trileptal is wonderful for me, and I'm just wondering if anyone else has tried this one!!??

I have been on Trileptal for about three or four years now. I loved it. One problem for me is the low sodium it caused me and caused me seizures. But now that I am on a lower dose I dont have the problems. But I would like to just be on the trileptal again just like I use to even though I have to keep up with that sodium issue. Plus I dont have anymore options once again. take care Lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/

My daughter is on Trileptal. and so far she is doing great on it. Her partial seizures have stopped and she has not had any more Grand Mal Seizures. the only side effect I noticed at first was a behavior change but that has gone back to normal after awhile. I love this medication. So far so good. but she is also on a low level. she only takes 3.5 mm per day. 1.5 in the am and 2 mm in the p.m. but you also should know she only weighs 42 pds. she is a tiny thing. Oh I truely like trileptal. Compare some of the other meds I have been on. There are not many side effects at all. Glad it is working out ok for your daughter. take care Lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/
