Tired all the time

Tue, 06/27/2006 - 15:38
I had my last seizure June 1st. My neuro raised my topamax to 200mg which I take at bedtime. I also take Lamictal 100 mg twice a day. Since he increased my topamax I feel so drained and tired. I feel like I can't get enough sleep and I don't have the energy to do anything. I have to make myself get up and do my regular everyday chores. I have been reading about other peoples dosages on other meds and they seem alot higher. Is this a common reaction to Lamictal and Topamax? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Mary

I am just taking myself off

I am just taking myself off Topamax after 10 months. I have been to the doctors and had bloodwork ran more than once because of the way I have felt. I wake up feeling like I havent gotten enough rest more days than not. I feel drained...tired all the time, weak. I was sure something was wrong with me. The doctor told me my results were fine. I even asked if it could be the Topamax, he said no. I have also experienced a great amount of hair loss. After researching Topamax on the internet...website after website, I found out there are MANY people experiencing the same thing. I am absolutly convinced it is this medication. I am cutting down from 100mg to 50mg, then off it completly in hope after time I will become my normal self again.

I take lamictal and I won't

I take lamictal and I won't say it doesnt affect my energy levels because it does, BUT it doesnt affect them THAT much. I'm a very tired person because Im a student and Im up late doing schoolwork and then I wake up early to go and work on my days off school so its a lot to handle. But I can tell that the medication has some effec on my energy levels when I compare the amount of sleep I have gotten against the amount of sleep one of my friends (a friend who doesnt have epilepsy) has gotten and she typically has more energy on a 4 hour sleep than I do on even a 7 hour night. It's a crap deal and I have a hard time staying awake in class....really REALLY hard time, but I do truly believe that if I get the sleep I need (which is usually about 9 hours) then I can function really well.

I am also coming off the

I am also coming off the Topomax because of problems with memory, concentration and the main driver hairloss which I am also convinced is the Topomax. I have tried allsorts of things for my hair none have helped. I am gradually coming down from 400mgh of Topomax am currently at 175mg (dropping weekly at 25mg) but have felt really dreadful this week, tearful, emotional, severe headaches, trouble sleeping, sickness and nausea etc. I just wondered how you have been feeling coming off the Topomax? Any feedback much appreciated. Best wishes Bex
