Anyone ever taken Zonegran?

Tue, 10/17/2006 - 17:20
I was just wondering if anyone is on now or has in the past taken Zonegran. I am on it now. I have been about a month and a half, I guess. I am usually confused and "slow", but I swear it seems 10 times worse now. I have lost about 8 pounds now, too. I am not complaining about the actual weight loss, its just that I can't eat. I feel "yucky" all the time and just have no appetite. I am hungry, but I can't eat. I have lost down now to 115. Just wondering about anyone elses experiences with this.

I have been taking Zonegran for close to six  years now, the first year or two were weird. Weight loss was extreme, I went from 156 to 109, but with this I also had anxiety problems which I had never encountered on any of my other meds because I was mostly fogged.

Since my neurologist didn't seem too upset about my weight loss and anxiety so I went to my primary physician and he put me on Effexor for the anxiety, I have gained back and maintained my weight, my anxiety is much better, still have a little trouble in large group functions, or loud activities but not near as bad.

Hope this helps, good luck

Hi,

I have been on Zonegran for 3 years now. I too experienced the weight loss.  At first I had the Foggy head feeling and every time I had an increase, however it got better.

I also take Carbamazepine which seems to have made sure those pounds I lost are finding their way home.

What times are you taking the meds? I take mine in Am/PM dosages. I take my Am after I have eaten some yoghurt and fruit, that makes it easier for me.  Maybe that will help you.

Another poster stated about the Anxiety, and the noise intensity. ooh they are not so much fun. I take Xanax when I know I have to be in that situation. That has worked for me, that and wearing dark sunglasses for the bright lights.
