Two seizures two years apart, is it epilepsy?

My daughter who is 3 1/2 just had her second seizure with strep

If nothing else it will get you started on your way to a super highway of new info coming out about seizures. All docs say is it’s epilepsy. Well with respect it’s passed that now. They’ve identified 400 types of seizures putting them in six groups and not all of them are epilepsy hence medication only working half the time. At least look the knowledge made me feel better that this topic is stepping into the light and so much has been discovered. Good luck in your learning it will be worth it.  Because of what I’ve learned I’m over 2 years no seizure and I stopped my meds at that time and still seizure free two years. 

Dear Ryansmom, I want to tell you that I dont think that seizures that spread apart are uncommon my daughter has had 5 her whole life and she is almost ten now. The first was when she was 12 hours old then the second was in may of 2003 when she was 6 then the third was year and a half later in dec of 2004 the forth was a week to the day after the third one and her last one was 6 months later june of 2005. Thank God and knock wood and everything else we have gone almost a year sense the last one. We have done two eegs both came out abnormal. She is on a very low dose of Lamctal (is it working or not we dont know because her Sz pattern is so far apart. I know that I have had to neros tell me that everyone is intitled to one or two Free Sz with out being Dx epileptic. I know that all this is very scary and confusing I myself still walk on eggshells and watch and wait but I have found alot of info and support here. There are so many caring and wise people here that can be most helpful the one thing I know that I got from this site is that we are not alone. I am wishing you all the best and I am hoping that your son is just using his freebies and that they do not continue. Always Pam
