Hi! My sister has epilepsy for my whole life and has never required CPR. My husband's epilepsy suddenly got worse and needed CPR three times. I think it is a gamble and you just never know, so as long as you are prepared, trust me you will do what you need to do. I am a teacher so I have been certified in CPR for years but never had to use it until my husband. I never worried about it before he seized after the first time, with epilepsy you just never know. My husband continued to live his life like normal and I would try to be as normal as possible. My husband has now had surgery and it has been five months, things are going great. (Knock wood). Anyway, what I am trying to say is think about what you would or would not let your son do without epilepsy and try to take that into consideration when you decide what he should be allowed to do. I would never let a child on a motorcycle because my cousin was killed in a motorcycle accident. So I think you will have to decide that for yourself. As for changing doctors, if your not happy start finding a new doctor, no one says you have to stay with the same doctor.
Good luck
Jackie

The EFA has an excellent brochure. Also, a CPR class would help you be more prepared and confidient. You may never have to use CPR - but every parent should know it - even those who don''t have children with health conditions.
